About Us

It all began with Snoopy.
Christmas 2010, my family and I fell in love with a little puppy in the window.  He looked like a miniature Shaggy D. A. and had such spunk as he zipped around the pet shop showing off for everyone.  He made us laugh till we cried.  We were sold.  We brought our little Hava-Malt home with us weighing in at just under 4 pounds at 16 weeks of age.

We knew nothing about pet stores and were unprepared...
We had no idea where Snoopy came from, who his breeders had been or what quality of care he had received.  Soon after bringing him home, we gave Snoopy his first bath.  We discovered sores on his head, dirt and crud in his ears and what can only be described as "goop" at the corners of his eyes.  It was time for the vet.

Hello to ear mites, eye infection and the possibility of cancer...
Wow!  The mites we could easily cure as well as the eye infection, but the sores on his head and neck indicated the possibility of cancer!  They would have to be removed and the vet recommended neutering Snoopy to prevent the possibility of passing on any cancer genes.  It turned out the tumors were not cancerous, but they could grow back.  We went ahead with the neuter and surgery to remove the tumors.  For a short while, Snoopy was "Franken-puppy" with all his stitches.

We had learned our lesson on pet stores.
When we had gotten enough guts to try again, I made sure we did our research.  My husband wanted me to buy a pure-breed and began researching which breed characteristics we liked in Snoopy.  We loved his proud prance and characteristic Havanese bounce.  He was quiet to a fault, barking only to alert us or greet us, in fact it is Snoopy's silent bark that so endeared him to us in the first place.  And his color!  It was clear that it was the Havanese in Snoopy that we loved.

It was love at first sight all over again...
Matilda was perfect!  So beautiful with her white body, brown nose, and those eyes!  Chocolate Havanese have the most exotic eyes as puppies!  Mattie had bullseyes - literally blue surrounded by bright lime green eyes.  I was sold!  Born 02/06/2011, it would be two years till we produced our first litter with the help of my good friend Suz Naquin and Boudreaux (Hunter's Dark Knight).

Fairy Tales and Happy Endings...
Families are dynamic and mine is no exception.  I didn't have the fairy tale story everybody wishes they had - Divorce, Relocation, and New Beginnings took me to North Georgia/South Florida.  It took 3 years to rebuild and start over.  I was extremely lucky to acquire my girl Hetty from a dear friend and former customer.  I added Wicket from Clever Canines.  And Voila!  Capital City Canine Connection has hit the ground running. I am ecstatic to be working with my beloved Havanese again.  Morgan is back home with me and I have since added Pebbles.  These four fur babies fill my days with joy.
